Silent Lives on the Mountains
In Silent Lives on the Mountains, Than Kyaw Htay turns his attention to the quiet lives of people living and working within Myanmar’s mountainous landscapes. Small human figures sit within vast fields of luminous yellow and shifting layers of colour, emphasizing the relationship between people and the land surrounding them. Their presence is modest against the scale of the landscape, yet remains at the heart of both works. Created during ARTICO RESIDENCY 2026, the works reflect the rhythms of everyday life in the mountains — quiet, enduring, and closely connected to the land.
