Bagan — Presence
In Bagan — Presence, the forms of Bagan emerge through vivid layers of orange, red, blue, and green, while a single figure stands quietly within the landscape. The architecture is recognizable without being precisely rendered, allowing the painting to move between observation and memory. The solitary figure introduces a human presence within Bagan’s vast cultural landscape — a reminder that the ancient city is not only a place of monuments, but one that continues to be encountered and experienced by people today. Created during ARTICO RESIDENCY 2026, Bagan — Presence captures Bagan not as a historical image frozen in time, but as a place that continues to live in the present.
