Women Power — Planting
In Women Power — Planting, Daweilay depicts women working together in a rice field, bending toward the earth as they plant young rice seedlings by hand. Part of Daweilay’s continuing Women Power series, the painting draws attention to the strength and endurance embedded in everyday work. Here, that strength is expressed through an act of beginning — placing one seedling after another into the earth, with the expectation that what is planted today will sustain life in the future. Created during ARTICO RESIDENCY 2026, Women Power — Planting reflects a form of power that is quiet, repetitive, and essential — the power to cultivate, nurture, and sustain.
