Somewhere Along the Way
Somewhere Along the Way draws from Co Thiee’s memory of a journey from Yangon to Myawaddy. Somewhere along the route, amid the eastern mountain landscape, a particular scene stayed with him—though its exact location has faded with time, and the place as he remembers it no longer exists. Years later, during ARTICO RESIDENCY 2026, that memory resurfaced. Rather than documenting a place as it is today, Co Thiee painted what remained within him: fragments of landscape, atmosphere, color, and a moment preserved through memory. The work reflects how places can disappear or change, while the memories attached to them endure. Somewhere Along the Way is therefore less a record of a physical landscape than a return to a place that now exists primarily in memory.
