Artist Nila Sann
Born in Mawlamyine in 1983, Nila Sann is a Myanmar contemporary artist known for her distinctive approach to Abstract Art. Her work is driven by bold color, instinctive gestures, and the freedom of spontaneous expression. A graduate of the Yangon State School of Fine Arts (2004), she has been actively exhibiting since 2004 in numerous group exhibitions in Myanmar and internationally. Her first solo exhibition, “Point One,” was held in 2023, followed by her second solo “color in motion “exhibition in 2026. Nila Sann’s artistic practice is not guided by predetermined forms. Instead, she allows color, movement, texture, and instinct to shape each work. Through layering, scraping, and expressive brushstrokes, she transforms inner emotions into a visual language that is spontaneous, dynamic, and deeply personal. Having participated in international exhibitions in Taiwan, ASEAN, and Malaysia, Nila Sann continues to develop her distinctive artistic voice—using color not simply to create an image, but to express what words cannot.
